Pet Care Log
'Karen's Cat Care' understands the need to know how your cats and small pets are whilst you're away. That's why a daily pet care log is included as standard. Not only are visits recorded, but also how much food has been eaten and which cats made an appearance to name a few. Texts and/or emails are sent regularly to reassure you of their welfare. Photos will be included so you can see how they are getting on.
Food, Bedding & Litter
All tinned, packet, fresh and dry food, hay and bedding should be provided in clearly labelled bags or containers to last the duration of your absence. Please ensure that there is adequate spare cat litter for use during the length of the cat visiting service, along with a poop scoop and dust pan & brush. For grooming, a brush will be required. Please have available a cloth, tea towel and kitchen towel for clearing up any furballs or little accidents. Any used food packets will be rinsed so that smells don't build up whilst you're away. Any additional items that need to be purchased for your pet whilst under our pet care will be charged at retail cost and will be added to your final balance.
Spending time with your cat(s) is an important part of my service. I aim to stay on average around 10-15mins per visit, however, due to unforeseen circumstances, visits may be less than that. Every endeavour will be made to make up any shortfall on another visit if the schedule permits. Whilst every effort is made to offer you your requested time of visit, this may not be possible due to existing schedule constraints. Visits are usually grouped together to maximise on efficiency when out and about. Evening visits are usually between 4-6pm. Weekend visits start from 10am. Visits on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and the Easter Weekend may last only 5 minutes due to high demand. In the event of serious bad weather (ie. snow) every attempt will be made to complete the visit. You will be contacted immediately if there are any issues. Forseen weather events can be planned for with additional food and trays put out in case the roads are inaccessible.
For Cat visits more than 6 miles from WD3 5EY a travel fee of £1 per mile will charged in addition to the standard visit fees.
For Small Animal visits outside of Chorleywood a travel fee of £2 per mile will be charged in addition to the standard visit fees.
Distances are calculated using Google Maps via the most direct route from door to door.
Key Collection, Return & Holding
Key collection (if not provided during the consultation) has a fee of £5. Alternatively, feel free to drop/collect them when passing through Chorleywood. Keys can be held for regular clients in the event you require our services frequently or at short notice.
On engaging 'Karen's Cat Care' to look after your pets, a 50% deposit will be required to secure the dates. The outstanding balance must be paid at least 5 days before the care service is due to start. Payments can be made by electronic bank transfer or cash. Please note there will be an additional charge for any visits before 8am and after 7pm.
CANCELLATIONS - If you decide to cancel more than 21 days before the care service is due to commence the deposit will be refunded. Cancellation within 5-21 days prior to the commencement date the deposit will not be refunded. Cancellations within 0-5 days prior to the commencement date the full amount will not be refunded. Karen’s Cat Care reserves the right to cancel any bookings with 28 days notice; all deposits will be refunded.
PEAK HOLIDAYS - Bookings from Dec 27-31 2019 will be charged at standard rates plus 50% with Christmas Day, Boxing Day, & New Years Day at double rate and all four days of the Easter weekend at double rate. All Bank Holiday weekends (Sat-Mon) are charged at the standard rate plus 50%. School half terms and end of term holidays (Easter & Christmas) are charged at the standard rate plus 25%, except where specified above. All deposits during peak holidays are non-refundable under any circumstances. See the CALENDAR PAGE for all prices.
On Your Return
On your return, please contact 'Karen's Cat Care' via text, phone or email to let me know that you are back home. As delays or unexpected events can sometimes happen, if I do not hear from you on the day of your expected return, I will visit the next day to ensure that your pets are fed and will continue to do so until I am sure your pet's normal care has resumed. Therefore, please do contact me as soon as you know of any changes to your plans. Follow up visits will be charged at the standard daily rates above. Keys will be returned to you within three days of your return.
Emergency Vet Care
Should a problem arise whilst you're away every attempt will be made to contact you on the numbers/email provided. If you are unreachable then we reserve the right to seek veterinary care without your consent either with your local vet whose info you provide us with, or our local Chess Vets in Chorleywood. Any fees will be charged to you and must be paid immediately on your return. Emergency vet visits will be charged at £25 per hour (additional to vet bills). Please ensure a cat/pet carrier is available for use, though one can be provided if required.
Photos are taken of your pets in their home environment environment and are Messaged to show you how your pets are doing. Unless you state otherwise at the beginning of the service contract, Karen’s Cat Care will be permitted to post these photos on the Karen’s Cat Care Facebook and Twitter pages. The photos will always be a close up image of your pet, usually on the floor and no personal objects and other identifying background will be in the photos. Karen’s Cat Care will also be permitted to publicly display any testimonials on the Karen’s Cat Care website and social media websites unless otherwise discussed.
On the rare occasion that I am not able to attend a visit, my husband or trusted friend will do on my behalf. Of course you will be consulted on this matter.
